Tackling a few things on the to-do list

Image
The list looks something like this:  Sew a bunch of quilts Repaint the house Build a robot puppet Redecorate the whole interior of the house Relandscape the whole yard All of these things have been at least started. Witness: Started sewing our new bed quilt. It's going to take forever, but I will finish it. THE HOUSE IS GETTING PAINTED! THE HOUSE IS GETTING PAINTED! THE HOUSE IS GETTING PAINTED! I cannot fully express the joy that this brings me. I HATE HATE HATE the color of my house.  Torso Boy Tom Servo. Jim has had to help me with attaching the arms and the engine block because none of the instructions I found online told me HOW DANG HARD THIS WAS TO DO. IT'S WAY HARD. You have to screw the screws from the inside of the barrel and it's hard and how do you even get a dang screwdriver IN the barrel? He has a ratchet one, but IT'S STILL HARD. And we put the arms on the wrong sides so I made Jim take them off and reattach them. He pr...

Ultimate cosmic power, itty bitty living space

Image
That's how I feel with my time. Ultimate, cosmic projects, itty bitty free time to do them. Some of the things I've been working on: my Tom Servo replica bot puppet. He's coming along. His mouth works at least. basement rearrangement, courtesy of my mother and brother. Brother is moving in with mother, mother gets rid of some furniture, we get rid of old huge couches, put in mother's old love seats. I finally got Caroline's quilt finished  rearranging my sewing room/office. Jim removes a really heavy shelving unit. It's not just projects that I want to have time for, but events. These are some events I've had going on since Paul and Bethany's wedding: Granchild #4 Caroline made roses for a wedding party cake for Paul and Bethany's MN party more granddaughter holding visits to more state parks. I've visited 15 this year alone.  Arboretum trips with grandchildren (and child and mother) gar...

Friday in Utah

Image
I have no pictures of the quilt store Jim, Hayley, Anne, and Art and I visited, but it was fabulous! I bought several oceany fabrics to use in an eventual quilt for our bed. I also bought napkin fabric for certain children. Then we went to lunch. Hayley and I wait somewhat patiently for lunch playing "electric paperclip on the stove top with the electric donut" Wii game. At least that's what I think the game is called. Well, that's what we called it when we first got a Wii.  Hi Katie. Jackson kept pointing the Wii remote (the goat?) away from the TV.  Hayley's face, and Jackson's too, actually. He has a cute profile. This was the highlight of the afternoon: Jackson discovered Hayley's battery operated Pikachu bank and the two of them put coins in it for nearly half an hour. Then they would laugh.  Finally got to see this boy not in a NICU crib!  Much holding! He was so pleasant and attentive! He only spit up on people a couple of...

Went back to Utah so soon after leaving

Image
Both times we traveled for Paul. First time was for graduation, this time, for Paul's wedding. Big milestones in a young man's life. We flew with Katie, Christian and the kids and it was a SUPER early flight. It was barely light when we left. And it was raining. Jackson sat between Jim and me and Katie, Christian and Emma sat right behind us.  His face wouldn't sit still for a picture. He was a super good traveler though. He sometimes watched How to Train Your Dragon, and sometimes colored. When we got to SLC, Katie and family went their way to visit Christian's family. Jim and I decided to cross off a bucket list item. I've been to Utah many times, but I've never set foot near the Great Salt Lake. It was minutes from the airport so we headed over. This part was fairly unstinky and bug level was low OK, if you're going to balance rocks, you're CHEATING if you use flat ones!  Finally. I am at the Great Salt Lake and now I'm ...
