The London Eye

Uploading pictures from Google photos is irritating because most of the time, it arranges the pictures from newest to oldest and then I have to rearrange them all individually and it's time consuming. I'm not going to do that with this post so you'll get them in reverse order, because it doesn't really matter for this particular post.

After Westminster Abbey, we crossed the bridge to wait out the time until our reservation for the London Eye. We round a lovely park to wait in, but as we sat for a bit, we got increasingly cold. We finally googled a clothing shop so we could buy something warm to wear. Jim finally located a shop, and we got a little lost getting there. Turns out the shop was inside an underground/train station. The shop was called FatFace and I chuckled at the whimsy of the name. Fortunately, they had a sweatshirt in my size and a jacket in Jim's. We walked back to the park (Jubilee Park, where we saw lots of school kids in their class uniforms walking in lines. The park had a very large play area which was well populated) and sat for a while, listening to various buskers play one Adele song. We sat on a bench facing the Thames and we enjoyed a peaceful, beautiful view.

Finally it was our turn to get in the long line waiting for a turn on the Eye. The line went fairly quickly and soon we boarded our hollow capsule with a dozen or so strangers. During the half-hour ride, one of the little children pushed the call button accidentally and the dad had to explain that there was no emergency. Jim and I enjoyed staring out over the city and taking pictures. I did experience a wee bit of panic (a very wee bit) over getting near the top and thinking that perhaps the whole thing was going to topple over or our capsule was going to fall off. I wasn't quite sure how the whole wheel stayed up anyway. But I got over it once we were on the downward side.

And now, pictures in reverse order:

Couple selfie in the capsule with our purchases from FatFace keeping us warm.

Couple selfie with the Eye not very artfully in the background.
