A day in Ft. Lauderdale because ANOTHER CRUISE!

Two years ago (January 2024) we went on our first cruise. We loved it so much that we booked another cruise for December 2025 on the Sun Princess, the big Princess ship that had just started booking cruises. We picked the East Caribbean because our previous cruise was West Caribbean. Then we began the agonizing year and a half wait. It was so exciting to get to single digits on the countdown on the Princess app. After that long wait, the time had finally come to go on our long-anticipated vacation. We decided to travel to Ft. Lauderdale on Friday December 12, two days before embarkation because what if something happens and we have to delay a day? So Friday night, we landed in Ft Lauderdale. Saturday morning, we woke up to being half a block from the beach!

First look at the beach.
We rented 2 chaises and an umbrella for the day

Happy beach loungers. Mid morning, I wanted to put on my bathing suit but I had only brought one along (only have one). I googled places to buy bathing suits and there was one a few yards down the beach. I went off to buy a bathing suit and found a little store that sold souvenirs and they somehow had bathing suits in my size. They were super expensive and I shall not tell you just how expensive they were, but I bought a tankini set anyway because it was just about the perfect suit. Jim and I went to a different store later in the day and they had way more swimming suits, but none of them were my size so I'm glad I got the one I did earlier.

We found an Argentinian restaurant for lunch and it had a lovely view of the beach

Milanesas are HUGE. I could barely eat half of mine.

The empanadas were delicious. They each had a different filling and we shared them between us.

Happy eaters

I spotted Jim taking a picture of me.

After I had bought my bathing suit, I spotted this door. This is a side door for the Margaritaville complex. They had a store around the corner and I bought Jim a Landshark shirt.

Jim surveys the ocean and decides it is good.

a detectorist! Later the guy went chest deep into the water with his equipment.

After it got dark, we went out for a walk to find a place to eat and we found a little place with lovely taco salads. I love these little hole-in-the-wall places.

Then we went back to our room to enjoy relaxing before getting up in the morning to board the ship. While we were relaxing, an argument started in the room next to ours. It was a woman and a man shouting in what I assume to be Spanish, but Jim didn't understand it, so it might have been another language. They argued and shouted continuously for at least half an hour and finally, Jim went to speak to the manager about it. The manager said he would send someone over. Jim came back to wait, and of course a few minutes before anyone showed up, the couple stopped arguing. The motel employee knocked on the door several times, but no one answered. Of course. But they were silent after that and we heard nothing and saw nothing. I wonder what the argument was and I wonder what happened to them. Jim said the manager told him that it was a mother and son staying in that room.
