Day 2: Princess Cays

First full day of the cruise and we already have a stop. Since we've never been here at the Princess Cay, we wanted to go ashore to be able to say "yeah, we've been there." We didn't have a specific time to be there so we took our time getting up in the morning.

The tender that gets us from the ship to the island. I think there were at least three operating at a time. They were calling people by group to board the tenders.

Gotta go sit on that beach there.

but first, some ship exploration.

The dome thingy. We never did do much in the dome, but it looks very nice and relaxing what with the chaises and all. And there's a swimming pool at the front and center that leads to outside.

This is the outside of the dome thingy. The outside of the inside/outside pool.

So we finally decided to get on the tender, but there was quite a wait. Tim and Pam are ELITE Princess passengers so they don't have to wait in line for a specific group; they can get on any tender at any time. Very posh. But we had to wait for our group to be called. We sat around in one of the upper piazza lounges to wait. Another passenger sat down in our little area and I figured I might as well chat. Well, she was difficult to chat with. She was a first time cruiser and she asked a few questions that made it seem like she had no idea what Princess plus was (we bought the extra plan that gave us free bottled water, free sodas, free Wi-fi, included gratuities etc.). She wanted water bottles and I had to explain they were included in the Princess plus. She also complained about the internet. She saw me using my phone and wondered how I could use the internet. I explained we bought the princess plus package. Then she wanted to know where we got our little Princess tote bag and again, Princess plus perk. She was from Arizona and complained that she couldn't stand cold and how could anyone live in Minnesota. She wasn't willfully unpleasant, but she did seem like she wasn't sure how cruises worked and was kind of just generally frustrated about it. I was glad when they called our group and we finally headed off to the tender.

The tenders were packed and we were practically the last ones on our boat, but we got on and headed ashore.

Tendering towards the shore. I didn't get any photos of the tender itself.

The boat from the shore. Tim says the light blue area up front looked like it was made from clear blue Legos. That area of the ship is the 18+ lounge and it is very comfy (except when the wind is blowing strongly from a certain direction. Then it blows cushions and chairs around. We experienced this and had to find seating elsewhere). The 18+ lounge was never very crowded even during the calmest times and they have awesome big comfy multiple-person chairs.

The entrance to the beach area

Happy day!
The weather wasn't very cooperative while we were on the beach, but it wasn't COLD. We had clouds and wind and a smattering of raindrops. Is OK. We found Pam and Tim on the beach and sat next to them. The beach had a buffet line on it and Pam went with us to get some food before it closed. It wasn't great food, the line was really long, but it was edible. I ate a hamburger. I did have a piece of cake that was good, but I accidentally dumped it into the sand after taking a few bites.

We could have done with fewer clouds, but whatever.

That's Pam's foot on the left.

After a couple hours, we decided to go back to the ship. I did take some pictures of the tender boats.

Flags. I can't remember the name of this island we were on. Hold on while I look it up....Eleuthera. It's in the Bahamas. So now I've been to the Bahamas!

awaiting launch of the tender to get us back to the ship

Still waiting.

After returning to the ship, we snagged some premium desserts (Princess plus plan amenity) and went to the 18+ lounge to relax.

This is what it looks like behind the clear blue Legos

I was a little chilly

We went to dinner with Pam and Tim and took a photo near a Christmas tree afterward.
