Driving to Durango

Let's get in the not-too-wayback machine for our Durango trip. Katie posted her pictures, and so I want to post mine. We took 2 days to drive out to Durango, caravanning with Katie and Christian. Since Jim and I have only grown up kids, the drive was quiet and relaxing. Did I even drive? I might have driven for 2 hours but that was it. The freeway was full of long-haul semis and that makes me a wee bit nervous.

Some photos from the drive:

A gorilla inflatable near the first rest stop in Iowa.

A couple of wee children

They were happy to stretch their legs and run off some energy (although they are sitting for the picture)

Our overnight stay in Ogallala was near this beautiful watertower. I had to go for a walk and see it up close.

It lights up at night!

We welcome our alien overlords!

Heading into the mountainous scenery

Our lunch stop in the mountains was long and not all that wonderful food-wise. We were ready to get to Durango, but had a few more hours to drive.

Despite the long wait for less-than-mediocre food, the place was a decent place to sit and relax.

Shiprock? Jackson was fascinated with it and we had to grab a picture. This was about an hour out from Durango.
