3rd night of pub trivia--memories were made

When we got back to the ship after our excursion, we went to the "see sled dog puppies" event in the piazza. It was packed so we got a spot at the railing on the 3rd floor up from the piazza. |

The guy has won an Iditarod and raises sled dogs. His wife also races. She's from Minnesota! |

After dinner we went to an 80s Challenge. I did OK. |

The girls were no help with the 80s trivia. |
After the 80s challenge, we decided to do another round of pub trivia in the Wheelhouse lounge. We'd been there twice before and enjoyed it. Off we went.
What transpired there will live in my memory as one of the highlights of the whole cruise.
We walked in, sat down up front so we could see the host (who, incidentally was the host of the 80s Challenge). We got our pencil and paper and were ready to only get a few answers right.
The host announced that they were doing something different, that it would be a themed pub trivia and the theme was (pause) The Beatles.
Katie, Hayley, and I shouted "YES!" with excitement because if there is one thing that we have learned from being around Jim, it's Beatles trivia. We had a good chance of doing well, even maybe winning! We were confident!
And we were off! There were 3 questions that we didn't know the answer to: 1, What was Paul McCartney deported from Germany for? We thought George had been deported due to being underage. 2, Where was the Beatles first concert on American soil? We thought Shea stadium because that's the first one that came to mind. and 3, I can't remember.
1. Jim knew this of course, Paul was deported for starting a fire, 2, There was a concert in Washington DC (Matt knew this one as well), and I'll try to remember what the third thing was.
OH YEAH, the third one we got wrong was one we DIDN'T get wrong because the host was wrong (and refused to admit it). The question was What was the last recorded Beatles album? Well. everyone will say Let it Be, but that was the last RELEASED album. The last recorded was Abbey Road! So we got this wrong but we were right (and several other players agreed with us).
Some of the other questions were: Where were they all born? Liverpool DUH. What is the #1 Beatles song on Spotify--Thanks to my Gen Alpha girl Hayley for KNOWING this: Here Comes the Sun. What song did John Lennon write about Mia Farrow's sister? I knew this one: Dear Prudence. There were song lyrics from Ticket to Ride and Strawberry Fields which both Hayley and Katie knew. One question I totally guessed on was "what movie series was Help! based on? I guessed James Bond and I was right! The last question was which record album features 25 or so pictures that look like they were taken in a photo booth and I knew that one because it's one of my favorite movies: A Hard Day's Night.
Was 17 out of 20 enough to win? YES! WE WON BEATLES PUB TRIVIA. The couple next to us (they were older, of the age to have been Beatles fans in the 60s) congratulated us on our knowledge, and we heartily credited Jim with our success. I told them we'd been married over 35 years and I have had that long to absorb just a small portion of his vast pop music knowledge with emphasis on Beatles.

Who's number one? We are!!! |
I think the closest competitor had 15 right. When we had first woo-hooed upon hearing what the theme would be, I felt a little sheepish yelling out loud and giving off the vibe that we knew we were gonna win. But I was vindicated in the end! Yes, we know our Beatles trivia! We won the absolute most ridiculous prize that could ever go to two teetotaling people (and Hayley probably doesn't need a bottle stopper)--wine bottle stoppers! HAHAHA!
We called Jim immediately to report our success on his behalf (and we had cell service since we were still in port), even though we knew he was probably in bed. He seemed glad to hear from us victors and we chatted about all the questions.
