So many activities!

Day one at sea: we got up to go for breakfast in the buffet. Our first event of the day was a presentation by a T'Lingit leader. We got seats in the front row!

The presenter is a daughter and grandaughter of clan leaders

She wore her regalia--she had fun stories and gave us a greater appreciation for native culture

After the presentation, we watched some ship chefs carve decorations out of fruit
Swans

"sea witch" and flower

Katie and I got mocktails while we waited for another event.

Watercolor painting! We were lucky that we hung around the piazza early enough to get a good spot in the sign up line. They didn't have enough space/supplies for all the folks who wanted to do this. There was no instruction, just the admonition to mix paints in the middle of the plastic palette. Most people were dragging their paintbrushes side to side on the paper and creating ocean-themed landscapes but we chose to be different and do flowers.

Katie did multicolors of daisies

Hayley, who is an actual artist, painted bluebells from a picture she took while on our walk in Vancouver

After painting and probably lunch, we went out to the deck to catch the second half of "The Proposal." Hayley was cold.

We fancied ourselves up to eat dinner in the Palm Dining room.

Here we sit, waiting for dinner

Dinner was amazing!!! We got several dishes and shared them around so that we could all have a taste of everything.

While we were dithering over dessert choices, the assistant manager for the dining room was talking with us and encouraged us to get one of everything. He was serious too--try them all! So we got 2 each and they were all delicious! I loved the bananas foster and the chocolate hazelnut thing in the foreground. All of them were good, though.

We finished off the night by going to pub trivia in one of the ship bars. We didn't do very well, but we had so much fun!

One thing I don't have a picture of is us doing the daily crossword. Katie picked one up from the games/library/internet room just off the piazza, and while I napped in our room, Katie and Hayley started solving the puzzle. I woke up a bit later to them still trying to do the puzzle. Eventually I was awake enough to help and to correct Katie's pronunciation of "ennui" and "beleaguerment"--She was saying "een-wah" and "be-lidge-er-ment." We laughed so hard! We vowed to do the crossword every day.
