The Eagle has landed

Paul is an Eagle scout. All the hardware has been officially presented to him.

Jim took over the event planning for this court of honor. with all the stuff that has been going on lately, court of honor planning has not been on my mind lately. Jim, on the other hand, has not forgotten and did a good job putting the program together.

Jim kept it simple. We had two speakers, and Matt presented a few interesting facts about Eagle Scouts. Then one of our more recent Eagle scouts administered the Eagle Oath to Paul, and after that, Jim and I got our pins.

Then we got to eat cake. If you are going to have boy scouts milling around, you'd better have cake.

Yes, there are pictures.

Paul presented a mentor pin to Br G, who was the driving motivating force behind Paul getting his Eagle. I gave up last February. Br G did not give up and that's why Paul has achieved Eagle rank.

We presented Paul with a bag of Rolos. Every time Paul earned a merit badge, we rewarded him with a roll of Rolos. We thought it was appropriate to award him with a large bag of Rolos for getting his Eagle.

Congratulations to Paul and those who stood over him as he did things. That is a lot of work for everyone involved!! I like the use of Rolos as an "incentive".

And...what happened to Matt? Why is he looking...manly?

Rolos are also known as 'Eagle food' in boy scout circles. As an Eagle Scout, all I eat are Rolos...

I too have hearkened the call of the Rolo. And having typed out the word "rolo", it seems very funny. Rolo. Paul, great job. I firmly believe that a there should be an added requirement to the Eagle scout process. No worries, you've achieved it. The scout mother should have to sign off saying thay the scout has caused some measure of grief and anxiety in the process. The beauty is that a scout can still earn that portion and not achieve eagle rank. Sara & Jim, congrats on sticking with it.
