Friday five (x 2)

Five things I don't do well
1. Getting out of bed in a timely manner. I procrastinate and procrastinate. And I try to get back to sleep. I don't want to get up and face my to-do list.
2. Running. I can't run more than a block. I want to die at the end of the block. I'll walk all day but don't ask me to run.
3. Calling people. I hate using the phone. I'd much rather use email. (Except for calling my mother or my sister or Jim). I'm fine to answer the phone, but I don't like initiating the call. I'm afraid that people don't want to talk to me.
4. Seeing. I have glasses and contacts to help with that, though, so it's ok.
5. Sticking to a routine. I get bored with some routines (like using the same exercise video more than two times in a row), or unplanned events crop up and I get majorly sidetracked.

OK, now I've complained about myself publicly, I will allow a little pat on the back. Five things I think that I do well. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.
1. Making dinner. I love to cook for the family. I love trying new recipes, but I also like using family favorites. I love to make up dishes and I am good at substitution when I find that I am missing an ingredient. Just this morning I made chicken salad for a luncheon and I added avocados and Lawry's salt and I was quite pleased with the result. (But now I'm out of Lawry's salt. The luncheon is for 50+ people and my Lawry's ran out! I've had that shaker of Lawry's for quite awhile.)
2. Knitting. A friend who knits all the time told me (when I showed her one of my little projects) that I have very even stitches. I am learning many knitting techniques through the Monthly Knit-Along Dishcloth Group.
3. Folding laundry. I am nitpicky about it and I have certain ways of folding for certain things. I like doing it because it's an excuse to watch TV.
4. Sewing. I need to do more of it.
5. Being agreeable. I tend to side with whoever I am talking to. So if you need a yes-man (uh, woman), I'm your man (again, woman).

I can agree with your 5 things because I'm no good at those either. I don't like to run because of the monotony. I need variety in my exercise routine. I don't know why I'm even talking about exercising since I can't do any with my big belly and broken foot:(

I also concur with your "talents". I can vouch for your sewing skills; I have a wedding dress to prove it. I have also eaten many of your dinners and have liked all of them so far. Well, I can't verify your love for laundry folding since I've never been around you when you've done that. I have to say though I'm the opposite and don't enjoy folding/putting away laundry in the least. Can you move in?

Isn't it nice that you can say that making dinner is one of your talents. This should give many a young lass hope for her cooking skills becuase, as I recall, cooking wasn't always a forte. Congrats on learing and excelling at a new skill! You do many things well.

I remember a time when you called me from Provo (I think it was Provo) to tell me you had actually made a dinner for your boyfriend (Jim) and that everything turned out good and was all completed at the same time. I believe it was spaghetti and a salad.
You make the best potato salad and the best rolls but I think Sharon has you beat in the laundry dept. She takes one item at a time out of the dryer and immediatly either folds it or hangs it (except for underwear, those are theonly items that meet the laundry basket after drying).
You could call your dad sometimes to practice on your phone skills (I always want to talk to you).
Yeah, I remember that dinner. It was our first Thanksgiving together. Yes, I made spaghetti, not turkey. We had been married a week and it was all I could do at the time.

I LOVE my potato salad. I can't brag about my potato salad enough!
