What's that popping noise?

I looked in the microwave and what did I spy?
Peas a-poppin' right before my eye.
The garden has grown me a handful of green,
And I wrecked them all by cooking them in that machine.
I had picked a handful of sweet green peas,
To eat with my lunch of salad and cheese,
It's not at all fair, cuz now I have no pods,
And my microwave is covered in hard green clods.
