Happy birthday, J!

Jimmy (or Jim, which I will never get used to calling him--his dad is the Jim in the family) is now 16!
He had such ginormous eyes when he was a little kid. This picture was taken after he tried out daddy's razor--guess where? Most of you know the story. But I'll tell it anyway. One day, when Jimmy was just 2, I noticed that his face looked lopsided, unbalanced. At first, I couldn't put my finger on the difference. But as I looked closer, I saw it. Jimmy had only one eyebrow. The other one was SHAVED OFF. I asked him what he used and he pointed at Jim's razor in the sink. Jim had left his razor WHERE JIMMY COULD GET AT IT. I nearly fainted because of the possible damage and blood-letting Jimmy could have committed with something so sharp. But I regained my senses and after telling Jimmy DO NOT EVER EVER EVER USE DAD'S RAZOR EVER EVER EVER EVER...I grabbed the camera for a picture. And you can tell from Jimmy's facial expression that he was pretty proud of himself.

These days, Jimmy spends a lot of time looking cool. He shaves, but not his eyebrows.

Happy Birthday, Jimmy! We should've celebrated this when we were all together. I hope your special day is fantastic!!
Jerilyn--not quite twelve. I believe I turned twelve three months later.

I was even wearing MAKEUP in the HOSPITAL--I was still at the tender age where putting on makeup was as important as breathing. Good grief, what was I thinking??? Yikes, I hardly wear makeup even on a date with the husband anymore. Sorry Jim.

Happy Birthday to Jimmy! Does he have a bunch of girls lined up for a date or a bunch of dates lined up for one girl??? ;)
He has a date tonight! And to make it embarrassing, he's going with the girl's whole family. And he has a tentative date with someone else for a possible group date, and when another girls turns 16 next year, he is going to take her out. He's a BABE hound!

But he won't accept hugs from his mother. Sniff.
Jimmy is very handsome! And you do look 12 in the picture!

He is more his gran dads size, but much quieter than me. I remember his blessing in Portland, when I brought my little girls with me. We love him and all his siblings. So happy to see you all in Colorado....

You know, Jimmy IV, looks a lot like photos I've seen of Jim Sr when he was a teenager. Those Evans genes are strong in Jimmy and Katie - got lost somewhere with the rest of the kiddos as they are clearly from the Hawley line. I hope Jimmy IV grows up to be as wonderful a father and husband as his 2 most recent namesakes. Big shoes to fill but he's got a good start.

Jimmy - glad you like the jam. It was good of Sara to share.
